Well. They are being polite when they say suggest. They expect you to
be polite in return and dress as they suggest---which is formal. No
they won't deny you entry in the dining room these days if you don't
dress formal but personaly I dress as suggested out of respect for my
fellow passengers. If my fellow passengers stop dressing formal despite
the dress suggestion, then I would consider doing the same. In this one
area, dress, I intend to be a follower, not a leader. More power to you
dress rebels, but that won't be me until a majority do not dress
formal. I would give it up at that moment as I don't like wearing
formal dress, I don't find it comfortable, although I am told I look
pretty good in formal dress.
