You were lucky to get starboard heading from Vancouver to
Alaska -- the views from your stateroom will be much better.
(I assume you're going to Alaska, right? Alaska's my home,
and we just love getting visitors! )

Your cruise question -- time vs money for getting from San
Francisco / Sacramento to Vancouver.

Here's an option if time is tight. Flights from your area of
California to Seattle are less expensive than to Vancouver.
Alaska Air has lots of flights between California and Seattle,
and it's a great airline. Fly to Seattle. Then you can
take the Quick Coach shuttle service between the Seattle
airport and Vancouver. You can book the coach service in
advance, and it is fairly inexpensive -- probably less than
$40 US per person from Sea-Tac airport to Vancouver. If
you're interested just let me know and I can get the web link.

If you have ample money and extra time, then by all means take
the repo cruise from San Francisco. Cruising has to be the
best way to travel between two destinations that can be
connected by water. ;-)

Your second question -- for shore excursions, you can either
wait until they are announced by the cruise line OR you
can book with one of the companies that actually operate the
shore exursions for the cruise lines when ships are in port.
Here's an insider tip -- you don't have to book with the
cruise line. You can get the same shore excursions for up to
25% less OR you can get specialized shore excursions for a
bit more. There are some small group excursions that you can
book into, or even set them up for your own family of 4 or
more. If you have any interest in shore excursions, let me
know. Don't worry, I don't work for any shore excursion
companies -- but I am an avid cruiser, I know cruising, and I
know the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. I've got my sources .

You're in for a nice treat sailing on Celebrity. We sailed
on the Infinity last month and had a wonderful time. The ship
just came back out of dry dock so she should be in great shape
for your trip. And Concierge Class will give you lots and
lots of extras that aren't in the regular staterooms. Enjoy!!
