It depends on what you want to do. In Juneau, we rented a car because
we had more time. It meant taking a cab to and from the airport which
wasn't a big deal. A friend of ours, who isn't particularly religious,
told us about a shrine and an eagle sanctuary. We went to Mendenhall
Glacier and were leaving when the buses were getting there. We saw the
film, walked out to the glacier and did a nature walk which was
interesting. We had the AAA tour book and saw most of the sights
listed. When we were going into the Russian Orthodox church, we ran
into Jewish friends of ours who were very complimentary of the
priest's presentation. We went in and he was very interesting. We are
Roman Catholic but didn't know much about the Russian Orthodox Church.
The priest was extremely outgoing and willing to answer questions.
In Sitka and Ketchikan we did bus tours and a Ducks tour and walked
around some. That sounds somehow like we didn't those cities. We did
and I'll answer questions. In Sitka we did the semi-submersible for
part of the day and did the rest of the day on our own. The
semi-submersible was interesting but we've done two submarine cruises
in Hawaii.
