I can't answer for others, but speaking for myself, I have backed off
significantly from using this news group, as it has changed a lot since I
first found it several years ago. In the past couple of years, there has
been a significant increase of contributors, and I use the word very
loosely, who seemed to add absolutely nothing to the group except
inappropriate responses, mean-spirited remarks, and just plain old nasty
comments. I have no use for those kinds of comments. It became
increasingly difficult to read through the threads, and for a very long
period of time, I just skipped the news group altogether. However, I have
in recent months started to dabble back in the group, though not as much as
in previous years. I believe in the concept of news groups, and the use of
them as a legitimate forum for sharing information with like-minded
individuals. I have been the recipient of very valuable and helpful
information for planning our cruise vacations, and have always been very
appreciative of the information that was shared so generously with me. It
is for this reason that I want to be able to share whatever information I
can with people who request it. I have noticed that there are several newer
contributors in the past few months, and hopefully the tide is turning back
to the quality news group that rec.travel.cruises was when I first started
using it several years ago. I hope this helps to clarify your question.
