Here is what Royal Caribbean sent this morning...
"Royal Caribbean International® is excited to announce our new Winter
Weather Guarantee for Explorer of the Seas® 9-Night Eastern
Caribbean/12-Night Southern Caribbean sailing's departing from Cape Liberty
Cruise Port, New Jersey. Any time a sailing is delayed more than 12 hours
due to winter weather conditions, all guests will receive a $100 USD per
person onboard credit or the option to cancel with a 100% letter of credit
and reimbursement for any required rescheduling."
FWIW - I didn't know that this was a concern or a problem for anyone, but
Royal Caribbean must think it is enough of a worry that it would prevent
people from booking this ship. Since I don't think the ship will be delayed
very often (if at all) they are probably getting more publicity value from
this than what they will pay out. AND - suppose the ship is even 24 hours
late? How many people are really going to cancel? Their vacation time is
already booked... presumably they are already in New Jersey waiting for the
ship. I doubt that many would go home.
You have to give credit to the PR folks at RCI, though. These are the same
people who gave themselves an award for environmental concerns when they
planted some new shrubs and trees around their office building.
Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.
