Thanks George,
When we wrote the charter for this newsgroup, the infamous "Green Card
Lottery SPAM" was taking place. We wanted the charter to have wording
to prevent that sort of abuse, but allow travel agents to participate
in the newsgroup. The best wording we could come up with was something
like ...
>>Travel agents are encourged to participate in rec.travel.cruises as long as there is no >>overt advertising.
If I remember, we debated long and hard on that wording. It took us a
long, long time to find something that was acceptable to the committee.
Most of them have long since left rec.travel.cruises. John Davis
still stops by once in a while, and I think John Coan does also. There
were a few others, but I haven't seen any of the others post in ages.
At the time there was not a group of volunteers to help you write the
RFD's, so you had to go it on your own. Now they have a group of
volunteers that help people write their RFD's
If you read between the lines, then covert adversting like a .sig file
that compiles with the RFC's would be acceptable.
Information such as Ray's press releases are something that we were
actually hoping some of the travel agents would post. Maybe not as
many from one agent as Ray is posting each day, but we were thinking we
might get some of the agents to post information that comes from the
cruise lines and other sources.
Now, personally, I like Ray's posts. Others may disagree with them.
As far as I can see they are with in the scope of the charter, and his
.sig file compiles with the RFC's.
The rest of the group might have different tastes in this.
Ray may not be posting because he is away from the office. Ray may not
be posting for other reasons.
Reef Fish, the point is - you came in here, spreading False
information, jumped all over everyone with out doing your research on
the newgroup, the history of .sig files, the RFC's, or reading the
charter for the newsgroup. To compound that more, instead of qouting
just the portions of the posts that apply to what you are trying to
make a point, You are posting the entire article, instead of following
good qouting guidelines.
Reef Fish, do your research before you start looking like a fool again.
