I would have given the AD a much higher grade, had she not made
it such a blatent hard-sell AD. She is NEW to the internet
advertising
business.
Had she prefaced her post with a softer introduction, such as:
"Hi everyone,
Since you are all interesting in cruising, you might be interested
in Peckenpaugh Discount Cruises."
Then give the web link and move on.
As it was, the thread led to NOTHING but the bashing from the
Pro-Ray-Advertising Gang, with the exception of Rich C.
The short one-time, statement is USEFUL INFO for someone
who is interested in Discount Cruise Travel.
Follow-up of such a post should be a DISCUSSION and REVIEW
of that Travel Service, for those who had used it, and it would
provide further INFO for the readers who are interested in such
Travel Survices.
Had the AD itself not be such a hard sell ad, I would have rated
it a "B" for these reasons that are all PLUS of Agencies.
1. She used the posting name "Cruise_DIscounter"
which made it immediately obvious who she IS.
I wouldn't mind at all If Susette, who received my
rating of "A+" as an advertiser, had she used a posting
name such as "Cruise Outlet".
2. She made it clear the post was about "Announcing
Cruise Discount Services" in the Subject.
As long as she does it ONCE, those who don't care for
it can just SKIP, as I do 95% of all subjects in RTC.
Those who ARE interested in that service can use that
INFO, and perhaps give others additional info that it's
a GREAT service, or a POOR service, and whatever
useful opinion about it.
As it was, the entire thread was unnecessary bashing, especially
from those: Dick Goldhaber, Earl Colby Pottinger, and Jean O'Boyle
who strongly defended Ray Goldenberg's 18,000+ blatent ADS,
at the average rate of 5 per day, over a decade.
Dick Goldhaber was the first to fire a shot, at ME:
> Memo to Reef Fish.....
>
> This is an ad.
>
> Where is your outrage now?
Having read the 18-post thread, I agree that an ad, a blatent one,
just as Ray Goldenberg's ads are.
My outrage now is the hypocrisy and quick-on-the-draw knee-jerk
reaction of the identifiable group in the "Goldberger Gang".
Everyone will see where *I* stand on this subject of ADVERTISING,
when my "GRADES" are posted about each advertiser, and state
my reasons for the grades.
There is NO LONGER any need for any of you to waste bandwidth
defending the indefensible Ray Goldenberg (Grade "F").
Perhaps Ray will learn from others such as Susette on how HE
should advertise for his Travel Agency, and I may even give HIM
a grade of "A" if he comes anywhere close to Susette's INFO
and participation in ensuing DISCUSSIONS.
But a GRADE from me has to be EARNED, just as all the students
who had ever taken a course from me.
