They still have what you called the "special buffets" on certain
nights, at the pool deck, above and beyond the regular buffets.
But if you mean, by "grand buffet", the kind that passengers
take two hours taking pictures of the food display BEFORE
they start consuming the food, then I have to say I haven't seen
that kind of buffet with such elaborate preparation, in any of the
Princess ships I've been on the past couple of years.
I was on the Diamond Princess in January/February 2006.
Definitely nothing of the "grand buffet" kind that passengers
spend the first two hours taking pictures. :-)
I guess whether something is called "grand" changes meaning
in time.
