Subject: Remaining on an island while ship returns to Honolulu? Posted on: Sun, 25 Jun 2006 15:43:59 +0000 (UTC)

I'd like to spend more time on the last island my cruise visits before
the ship returns to Honolulu. Rather than return to Honolulu (which I
hear is almost as hectic as LA) and book a round-trip flight to the
other island, it seems more efficient to ditch the last leg of the
cruise, remain on my island of choice, and to get a one-way flight back
to Honolulu when I'm ready to return to the mainland.

What's the best way to do this and what should I tell the cruise line?
It would be irresponsible simply to not show up for the final leg and
not tell anyone.

Any good legitimate excuses? I imagine since it's my dollar anyhoo, why
would the cruise line care if I didn't return all the way to Honolulu.
Would I be "blacklisted" as a passenger if I did this? I've heard some
airlines will "blacklist" passengers who buy a cheaper RT ticket on a
flight and throw away the return portion.

Thanks
