I Hate to disappoint you but I am not here to Bitch as you say about NCL. We
enjoyed our cruise to Hawaii with them .The itinerary was great and the ship
was beautiful for everything but dining. I did read about Freestyle before
we booked however we did not realize that :
reservations were a must in all the specialty restaurants and so hard to
get
you could not just decide the night of diner where to eat. Information we
read lead us to believe we had freedom to choose when or where to go to eat
. If I knew 100% that other lines still offered set dining times I would
not have asked.

Now to your comments about your Freestyle experience . You were very lucky
to be able to decide where and when to eat . Maybe the Hawaii route on NCl
is different from their other Routes and Maybe Carnival offers more
flexibility in their dining. I don't think I said I would not cruise NCl
again . I believe I said I would not want to do Freestyle dining again
unless I was forced to .

This is what we read about NCL freestyle from their documents and we were
excited to try it but it seems you cannot get where and when you want to
dine you need to take what is available so I guess we did not understand the
concept

Dining
The choice is yours. With Freestyle Cruising, you travel a world of dining
options all in one week. From elegant French bistros and Italian trattorias
to sushi and tapas bars, and more, there's a different dining option for
almost every night of your cruise. With up to 10 different restaurants, each
featuring a diverse an ever-changing menu, you'll always find exactly what
you're in the mood for. And there are no fixed seatings. Imagine restaurants
open from 5:30 pm to midnight so that you can choose from an early dinner
before the show or a later romantic dinner for the two of you. And of course
there's always the option of 24-hour room service. You're free to dine
where, when and with whom you choose. Just as it should be on your vacation.

My wife and I took a week-long NCL cruise and loved it. We'd taken a
shorter Carnival cruise, with fixed dining and we felt that NCL's Freestyle
operation was better for us. Some days we felt like eating earlier. Some
days we felt like eating later. Some days we felt like dining with others.
Some days we felt like dining alone. We got to meet lots of nice people and
had a really good time. We'll be going on NCL again.

Now, in another response in this thread, you mention that you've cruised 9
other times on other lines. In their ads, NCL spells out what Freestyle is
all about, so you should have been aware of it before you boarded. Clearly,
you *know* other cruise lines still offer fixed dining times, so your
question is unnecessary and the point of your original post isn't to gather
information, it's just to bitch about NCL under the guise of gathering
information.

Fine. Avoid NCL. The next time we cruise NCL, I'll be grateful you're on
some other boat.
