With all the asbestos and other problem materials (PCB's, etc.) that were
used at the time... there simply may not have been any other option, given
the economics of trying to "clean her".
With any luck, Celebrity will get some of the nicest artwork/mementos and
put it into the specialty restaurant on one of their new builds, like they
did with the Olympic (Millie) and Ille de France (Connie). That way, at
least part of her will be around for many more years.
