My brother and sister-in-law lived on St. Kitts for 3 years (he just
went back a week ago). I don't remember anything about bands of wild
dogs. It's very new to the tourism business and not well developed.
Not much shopping or anything. They have a nice rain forest for hiking
and plantations to visit. I remember taking the train ride around the
island and the first thing you do if go through a pig sty (really).
Hopefully they got rid of that. There is one beach (whose name escapes
me) that has monkeys that will come up to you if you offer them
something to eat which was fun. If you're looking for a beach, head
off towards the Marriott which is the nicer part of the island.
