The Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance unveiled a new sales guide that is
designed to assist travel agents in selling niche cruises. The 14 NCMA
member lines have banded together to educate travel agents on the value of
concentrating on the sale of specialty cruise products. The alliance
provides educational programs, seminar content and trade show exposure for
its members and this industry segment. "The publication of this sales guide,
which is available to NCMA member agents in a hard-cover binder, is a major
development in our efforts to educate travel agents about the unique
products offered by our 14 member lines," said NCMA Executive Director
Lawrence Dessler. "Although the journeys provided by our nice cruise members
may be different, they do have several common traits. They provide more
intimate experiences than the larger cruise lines, can cruise to remote
destinations inaccessible to larger vessels, and place a high emphasis on
personal enrichment and environmental preservation. Our member lines are
heavily destination-focused with unique itineraries and shore excursions."
Other points covered in the introductory section of the binder include
reasons for selling niche cruises, a discussion of the specialty cruise
market and group tour opportunities within NCMA. There is a four-page,
full-color section on each of the 14 lines, including such information as
target customers, features and benefits, vessels and destinations and travel
agent policies. The guide is available to NCMA agents for $10 including
postage and handling and to non-NCMA members for $15. NCMA member lines
include American Cruise Lines, American West Steamboat Company, Antarctic
Dream Expeditions, Cruise West, Discovery World Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruise
Lines, Galapagos Explorer II (Canodros), Imperial Majesty Cruises, Imperial
River Cruise Lines, Norwegian Coastal Voyage, Orion Expedition Cruises,
Peter Deilmann Cruises, RiverBarge Excursion Lines and Star Clippers. The
new sales guide can be ordered at www.nichecruise.com.
