Carnival Also Receives Top Honors for Reservations, Sales and
Children’s Programming
MIAMI (October 11, 2006) – Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales
and marketing for Carnival Cruise Lines, has been named “Best Cruise
Industry Executive” by the electronic newsletter Daily Cruise News as
part of its inaugural cruise industry Helmsman’s Awards.
The awards were based on write-in ballots from nearly 2,600
cruise-selling travel agents who subscribe to Daily Cruise News and
voted in a variety of different categories. For the “Best Cruise
Industry Executive” award, respondents selected the top three
executives from more than 15 cruise lines. Freed received the highest
number of votes.
In its first year, the Helmsman Awards honor those cruise lines and
executives who are at the forefront of the industry. Freed was
presented with a cherry-wood nautical wheel clock with an engraved
plaque honoring her selection.
“I am not surprised at all that Vicki was voted the Best
Cruise Industry Executive by our subscribers. She participates in most
every major cruise industry event and certainly has become well known
and, deservedly, well respected in the industry,” said Peter Coloyan,
editor of Daily Cruise News. “This award is simply a validation of the
respect that she has earned and the success she has achieved."
Carnival also received top honors in the “Best Individual
Reservations,” “Best Group Reservations” and “Best Sales Support”
categories.
“Sweeping wins in the three major agent sales-related categories
clearly shows Carnival's leadership not only in the quality of service
provided, but also in its commitment to the travel agent distribution
system,” said Coloyan.
Carnival also received the “Best Kids Program” designation based on
the line’s top-rated children’s program, Camp Carnival, which caters
to the 525,000 kids carried by the line annually. The fleetwide
program features a full schedule of fun morning-til-night activities,
including specialized activities emphasizing reading, art, music,
geography and physical fitness.
“We are truly grateful for the recognition the subscribers of Cruise
News Daily have given Carnival. These numerous and varied awards
validate our company’s efforts to provide both travel agents and
guests with high quality service and an outstanding vacation product,”
said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.
Carnival’s fleet of 21 “Fun Ships” operate three- to 16-day voyages to
the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New
England, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.
Three new ships – the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, the
112,000-ton Carnival Splendor, and a 130,000-ton unnamed ship, are
scheduled to enter service between now and fall 2009.
