If you have a Sunday boarding or even a Saturday one you can stay at
anyone of a number of hotels chain or boutique in Ft. Lauderdale Beach.
The chain hotels like Sheridan have free shuttles. It doesn't take any
time at all to get to the entrance of Port Everglades from Ft.
Lauderdale beach. I think it's actually closer than most airport hotels.
I even took a cab one time from a B&B and was at the appropriate
terminal in no time at all.

My favorite was the Yankee Trader. On the same block is Cafe Casablanca
- one of my favorites. It's a mix of South Florida style seafood and
nouvelle cuisine. It's in a Spanish style house with lots of Moorish
touches. The second floor balcony looks out over to Sebastian beach.
The Creme Brule or Flan is to die for! While the view isn't so hot,
the Quarterdeck over by the marina, is a great little sports bar with
some tasty South Florida food.
