They didn't need to get her on insider trading. Getting her on obstruction
and lying to the Feds was easier to prove (like in Watergate). And those
are much more serious charges.
The punishment for the insider trading would likely have been a fine of less
than $50,000.
But the punishment for obstruction and lying to Feds... that's Jail Time.
