I think it is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of, especially
on a per-day basis. One tips based on service, usually outstanding
service, above & beyond service. Not simply doing ones job which is
usually based on commissions. Should I tip my broker, my real estate
agent, my bank teller?
Now all that being said I did once tip a travel agent in England who
put together in one day a 10-day trip to Italy for myself & two
daughters at the last minute on the spur of the minute during Easter
week. She was able to arrange flights, hotels & transfers at a
affordable rate and worked through her lunch. I slipped her a couple
of pounds to go have a pint or two after work, but it was an
extra-ordinary circumstance.
