Last month I booked a Celebrity cruise with cruises-n-more and was
quoted a price which included an onboard credit of $100 and receive an
invoice showing my deposit, that I would receive the credit, and the
amount of my final payment. Today I received an invoice for that final
payment and I was asked if I authorize payment from my credit card. I
agreed.
About two hours later I received another invoice showing that my credit
card was charged $100 more than the amounts which were previously
quoted to me as the final payment due, including the email sent 2 hours
previously. The agent explained that the amount of my onboard credit
was added to the final payment. He said that Celebrity prohibits
discounts, so they discounted the cruise price by $100 and added a $100
charge for an onboard credit, but that my earlier invoices did not show
this $100 charge.
Is this common practice?
