If you will be happy with the class of cabin you're booked into, you
won't be disappointed when/if the "upgrade fairy" does not visit you.

Ancient Rule: Never book a class of cabin that you would not want to use.

For what it is worth, we have used an inside cabin with much delight.
Just make sure the cabin TV is turned to the bridge camera so you will
know what is going on "outside" - not that it matters that much.
Have a great cruise,
Cheers,
