Bill, some of those karaoke singers were a hoot and some of them, not bad at
all!
You were lucky to be assigned to the Monet Dining room, though so you were
not too far from the buffet and your dining room. Your balcony was one of
those long narrow ones where you had to put your lounge chair alongside the
balcony rail.
with not much room along the sides of it..Our balcony was deeper but shorter
than yours.
At the time we booked, there were no other stern balconies so we took a
chance with the Degas Lounge below...So our white noise machine was a
lifesaver. Was this cabin GTY or did you request it?
We had just a little soot on our chairs and the cabin steward kept washing
it off...finally, I just took two of the bath towels and covered the chairs.
The over hang over the balcony door was only about 30 inches, so it was not
large enough to prevent the soot from falling...Our other stern balconies
have had ceilings much larger and that solved the problem with soot and also
gave you more privacy when you were sittting out there.

The element of surprise sometimes is worth it! Which ship are you taking in
January?
