This is ridiculous, unless you hadn't seen the doctor for a long time!
Even though we are with our doctor just under a year now, we can call
and have them mail us new prescriptions when we need them. Even now
with our doctor on maternity leave, another doctor in the practice is
sending us a new prescription for something we need.

It is a matter of luck, but it sounds like you do better leaving your
prescriptions in your carryon as long as they aren't liquids/gels.
