The passport cost does add up for families. I think it can be a real
financial impediment if a family is not going to use them for trips
every year. Also I think getting a passport can be an impediment. For
each one there is an application, and documents that have to be
gathered and sent in. The photo's, that is another cost. I think some
will choose a US vacation rather than hassle with passports. They do
make travel harder.
