AMEN! Nonny!! Thank you! THAT was what I was trying to get across even
though my using a driver's license was not the best analogy. I simply used
it because people would not DARE neglect renewing a driver's license
because of its importance to get around...Well the passport is just as
important in your ability to get around if traveling (especially out of
country) is in your future...Why wait hoping there will be another
extension..do it ahead of time and save yourself a lot of grief..
Personal responsibility is THE whole thing....You know that you are going to
be traveling sometime...it is YOUR responsibility to be prepared....If you
procrastinate and things go wrong..BLAME the government is the mantra!
Sheesh! The government is not your Mommy and Daddy....Take responsibility
and the courage to take the blame when you goof...That's the mentality of
society these days...if you commit a crime, your poor childhood was the
reason...don't get me started!! ;-) As that is an entirely different
subject!
Anyway, I was not talking to those who applied for or renewed their
passports at least 3-4 months before it matured...it's the ones who waited
until the last minute and who are clogging up the whole system because so
many have to be processed at the same time..
And Nonny, your last statement is on target...if you can afford to cruise,
you can pay for a passport...I know it is expensive, especially when there
are children needing one, too...but it's part of the package of being able
to take that vacation! One just needs to be responsible and plan
ahead...way ahead.
Off my soapbox!
