The Government should get with what airlines, credit cards, and clothing
stores are doing. If they want us to use them overseas - then give
loyalty points for more countries visited. Rack up enough points and
your renewal is free! After the current glut and the dust has settled,
encourage people to get theirs during slow demand times. During these
times of relative passport processing inactivity, have sales. Buy one
passport at regular cost, get a companion's for free! When a new
technology is available do like automobile dealers and offer a trade-in
value for the still in effect old technology one. We do it with
everything else so why not. Two for the price of one, Half off,
Trade-in credit... it's the American Way.
This could also be extended to our income taxes. !0% off for early
electronic filers. :-)
