I asked my sister how her agency drums up business. Email lists, phone
lists or snail mail simply aren't even considered as viable.
Common and effective means are: Ads in the Sunday paper Travel Section,
Presentations at Casinos, Social Clubs, and The Mall of America. Of
course being a brick and mortar travel agency there are daily walk-ins.
Presentations at Casinos and The Mall of America are held in high
traffic areas. People who didn't know about the presentation often drop
in.
It makes sense to me. With the increase of ISP Spam filters, National
Do Not Call lists, Do Not Send Unsolicited Surface Mail lists it really
doesn't make much sense to buy an email list that's only going to
bounce. :-D
What would probably benefit Mr. Sisker's business is if he bartered a
cruise or some other commodity for marketing services.
It has always struck me as a bit questionable, voicing his question
here. A goodly majority of the regular users of this newsgroup block
spam. Asking this question here is not dismaler to asking PETA where to
buy a fur coat that would meet the approval of this animal rights
group. In one word fahcockta.
This question would be better addressed in some Usenet Newsgroup or Http
forum that discusses small business and marketing. I'm left asking "why
here"?
