That's the truth and I'm panicking a little.
What was sort of annoying is that we would want to take stuff, and she
wouldn't let us have it. She might want it you see. BUT she did make
notes and inventories of just about everything. If I look in almost
any vase or container of any kind I will find a post-it or a note
there - for instance "This was given to me by one of the lab
technicians whose husband was stationed in the far east for several
years"

My mom started to do that too, but she would periodically go traveling
and take more pictures and collect more stuff. Also she was involved
in several organizations as editor or president or parliamentarian -
she was on at least one email list.
And then someone would come to visit and she'd shove everything she
was doing into the back bedroom (which you could just about open the
door to it when she died) and it would just stay there until another
layer was put on top.

One of my children doesn't want silver, but my mom insisted that
everyone had to have silver. We were used to using silver every day
when I was a child. My nieces are happy to have all the silver, so
all I have to do is divide it up fairly. Since I'm not their mother,
I can be somewhat impartial. |
