I don't recall ever using the dining room for lunch on a port day
myself. Hardly ever use the buffet for lunch on a port day. With most
people being off the ship, it seems logical that they would have less
food service onboard. Since Celebrity is as you note, "a mainstream
cruise line" I think you have to have lower expectations about the
level of service they will provide. I think it is acceptable on a line
like Celebrity not to have a sit down lunch on port days. Celebrity has
actually improved their food service on port days. When I first started
cruising Celebrity years ago they very limited food service hours. If
you got back from port at 3 or 4 p.m. all the dining venues would be
closed. No food to be found. Now you can find food service of some kind
onboard at those hours. I'd rather have that option than them providing
a full service lunch to a few people on port days.
