A ship that sails too close to a glacier that is
calving is inviting problems. I recall observing
four people in kayaks paddling next to one of the
Alaskan glaciers and getting very, very wet when
the glacier dropped a big section. They could have
just as easily been killed.
It looks like the "Alexey Maryshev, a Russian
research vessel converted into a luxury
sightseeing boat" wanted to give its passengers an
up close and personal view. Well it sure did that.
