I think that this can have an effect. On a cruise over Christmas and
New Year, the atmosphere is a lot different than during, say, mid May.
The crew is just like the rest of us, and can suffer from boredom or
share in the excitement of a new itinerary or holiday.
This is just a very personal opinion, but I feel that the consistency of
service has improved over the years with consolidation of the industry
and the application of corporate standards and training to a larger
fleet. Of course, there will be individual differences that might vary
with the Captain, Hotel Manager or the Restaurant Manager experience and
expectations. Heck, even the layout of the ship, buffet or dining areas
can affect the service passengers might receive. However, my own view
is that the bar raises each year.
