What I find interesting is that having taken an RCI and Celebrity
cruise in fairly quick succession last year, I found absolutely no
differences in "presentation" down to the china used in the dining
room. The menus were identical (meaning the selections that were
offered and how they were presented). The uniforms on the waitstaff
were identical. And some of the staff on Mercury had even come over
from Legend of the Seas (both of the ships I sailed). The food quality
and prep, however, was significantly better on RCI. The same goes for
the service, oddly enough. In fact, Celebrity continues to hold the
record for me for number of meals sent back as totally unacceptable,
and the most problems with waitstaff to the point of speaking with the
Maitre D. BTW, the lido buffets had the exact same items for lunch as
well.
Having sailed three Celebrity cruises that were mediocre (the product
itself, not the enjoyment of the vacation), I often wonder why you are
so enamored of them.
