The message

Besides LHR & LGW check out flights to Stansted [ STN ]. Although
further out of London it is the right side for Harwich and has regular
train services into Liverpool Street, the same station from which you
get the Boat Train to/from Harwich Int'l which will run for your cruise.
So you could stay the night in that area.
It is an hour on the train from Stansted and 1 1/4 hrs on the Boat Train
to Harwich. You could always have a driver from L'pool St to Stansted on
the return or even from Harwich direct to Stansted a *much* easier route
than going through or round London to either of the other two airports.
AA commences flights to Stansted from JFK this Oct and there are other
airlines too.
If possible, get a 'Daylight Madness' flight to the UK, relieves the jet
lag. You won't make the early morning flights from disembarking your
cruise wherever you fly from, but there are late afternoon and evening
flights, which to me are also preferable when flying to the US, but
depends on any onward connections required.
