When we went to Rome, the ship dropped us off at Civitavecchia and we were
then told that a coach had been laid on to take us to Rome but at a cost of
50 GBP per person, which we hadn't expected. So we walked to Civitavecchia
station and caught the train, which, from memory, cost us 8GBP.

That was about three years ago and the walk didn't seem that far - took
about a quarter of an hour, from what I remember, but we were only carrying
our coats and hand bags.

The train journey took about an hour, I think, but was very pleasant and
very conmfortable and that's the way I'd go in future.
