The reason I say that is twofold. On my sailing the smokers were
creating a lot of smoke in those areas that escaped. I almost thought
they were doing it on purpose. Bigger clouds than you usually see. And
the outside deck area was nearby where they handed out the pool towels
so it was not possible to avoid. And the inside area did not seem well
ventilated from the rest of the lounge it was in which is a major
lounge. And some smoked cigars which definitely should have been banned
to a more distant location. Possibly instead of a complete ban they
should try moving the smoking areas further away from the non-smoking
areas.
And some folks reported that they could smell smoke on the balconies
and hallways so some smokers insisted on violating the smoking policy
of no smoking in cabins and balconies. They don't seem to have the kind
of enforcement like I have heard they have on Oceania which is that
they put violators off. But since Azamara is a new cruise line perhaps
that will come in the near future. And since many onboard were moved
from booking on a different ship with different policies, probably a
hard line would not be fair until after the Bermuda sailing's, when all
the bookings will be new bookings on Azamara.
