I did - once. On my Norwegian Fjords sailing. The cruise air included
transfers (London to "the White Cliffs" of Dover) , which, if I did them on
my own would have been expensive. So even though the flight itself was more
expensive, adding transfers to "separate air" would have been slightly more.
But I also got the free custom air deviation with my "Elite Level"... so I
could pick the most convenient flight. I actually got a morning flight from
Newark to Heathrow (Virgin Atlantic) that arrived in the early evening, so
no red-eye jetlag.
