It is wonderful to be able to cruise from NY and not have to
deal with the airlines, but it's not like the West Side piers
are the only place you can get a cruise out of the NYC area.
Princess sails out of Brooklyn and RCI and Celebrity sail out of
Cape Liberty (I think they own that one). I am not sure of the
ownership of the Brooklyn pier but it's not unreasonable to
think that other cruise lines could use it (and presumably it is
not much further for you from Long Island).
