Hunni, we went out of Seattle on HAL's Amsterdam, and it was one of the
best cruises of our 20 or so years of cruising. The ship is beautiful
both inside and out, and with only about 1300 passengers the service was
outrageous.
Itinerary included Glacier Bay, Sitka, Juneau, and Ketchikan. We went
in mid/late September, and it was beautiful! The locals said it had
been poor weather in peak season, July and August. We wore shorts in
Sitka and Ketchikan because the temp was in the low 70's! In
September!!! With weather so unpredictable these days, don't worry
about it. The trend seems to be warmer, later, in many northern climes.
Balconies (which we love ) were sold out, but a regular outside room was
just fine. Due to the small size of the ship, there was plenty of deck
space for looking at the scenery and taking photos. When the ship was
moving, it was very cold, so I don't think we would have enjoyed full
use of our balcony.
I cannot say enough nice things about our cruise out of Seattle on the
Amsterdam. I loved it so much I am trying to put together a family
reunion on this ship.
