I am leaving on the Spirit in a few days, and wanted to get some
previous passengers experiences of how they made dinner reservations.
I read a few stories about people getting up early to make their
reservations, and did not understand why they did not just make them
the night before. Can you make them days in advance? Are the shows
at a set time so you can plan several days in advance? Can you just
show up at the main dining room at 6:00 and get a table, or?
Interesting editorials on the food but I will try and answer your question.
For the Specialty restaurants both free and fee you can make reservations
starting morning of the day before and thus the tails of people lining up
before dawn. These are people that must have the 7 pm seating or die I
guess. In 20 plus NCL cruises I have never stood in line to make a
reservation. As long as you are bit flexible you should have no issue. You
can call the reservation desk the day before and even the same day. You may
end up with a 6:30 or 8;30 reservation rather then the 7:30 you were hoping
for. The desk is open all day so you can drop by and see what is open where
and when that day or the next.
No need for any reservation for the main dining rooms unless you are a large
party in which case they will offer 6:00 or 8:30 keeping the peak time open
for freestyle. Walking up at 6:00 should be no issue on any night. 7-8
especially on lobster night you may have a 10-20 minute wait. They may
change if Freestyle 2.0 is in place when you cruise. They already started
with lobster every sea day night on the Dawn as part of the food upgrade
with 2.0. Not sure when it will roll out on the Spirit.
As far as the shows they are at 7:30 and 9:30 so you can eat early one night
and make the late show and late the next after the show. Your choice. You
can even grab dinner at 5:30-6:00 and make the early show and go back to the
dinning room after for dessert and coffee.
