Rosalie,
I admire how you keep your spirits up and want to keep going, even
while your husband has decided it's not his thing anymore. You have
described him in other posts as "cranky." That's a word I've used to
describe my own DH sometimes. By his own admission, he is far less
flexible than I am when it comes to any number of travel and other
issues, so when I read your posts, I feel a bit of trepidation about
how he's going to "temper" as the years roll by. I am still holding
out for the "mellow with age" effect, but it's hard to predict! You
and Bob have had many fabulous and interesting travel experiences. I
hope you will be able to find more travel opportunities that meet the
limitations he currently imposes.
And I love the fact that you've mimicked your mom's practice and are
taking your grandkids on those one-on-one travel adventures. My
parents have done the same sort of thing with their grandchildren, but
they picked the magic year of 8 for fear they wouldn't live long
enough to be physically able to travel with each one (and
consequently, their trips have been less grandiose, but special all
the same). They will be 79 when the last one turns 8!
Here's to your spring Med cruise with your grandson and to a
serendipitous find of a good travel match for you *and* Bob in 2008!
