Oh Ermalee........ I absolutely cringed when I read your message that
Bill had been taken to the hospital the other night. That is never a
good sign. Tonight, when we read the news of Bill's death, both Derek
and I let out a scream of remorse. What a nightmare for all of you!!

Perhaps you can find some solice in that Bill was so very precious to
all of us, and anyone who met him was better for the experience!! He
was a wonderful husband, beloved father, gracious host, and just an
all-around terrific guy. Derek and I so enjoyed meeting both of you
for the first time at your home in the months before the first ever
GGC. Bill's charm and warmth also enlightened the dinner that we
shared with so many of you that same night. We will now treasure
those memories all the more. How wonderful that you could share the
incredible celebration of your most special 60th wedding anniversary
that your daughter arranged as a surprise, and so kindly shared with
invitations to many rtc friends, like us.

Our hearts go out to you and the children in this time of greatest
need. Please know that Bill is very much an angel on your shoulder
now...and for all of us who knew him!! He will be sorely missed by
all.

Do not feel guilt that you were not with him at the hospital....you
have your own healing to do, and Bill would want (and expect nothing
less than) your full recovery from your own medical crisis at this
crucial time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family, but most
especially with you, my dear!
