Re: Princess anytime dining and other comments Posted on: Fri, 9 May 2008 07:57:12 -0400

I have been cruising for 40 years and 25 of our 60+ cruises have been on
Princess. I feel qualified to offer up my opinions on the downhill slide
into which Princess has gone.

I remember when the dining staff were mostly Italian. The food was much
superior to what it is now. I have a harder time understandng the
waiters now than did back then. The service was better. Caeser salads
and pasta dishes made tableside. Capachino after dinner at no extra
charge. A larger menu. Wine stewards in the dining room.

The cut backs are reflected in the price one pays for a cruise. In order
to compete, Princess has lower prices now than back then. We could
rarely get a 7 day cruise for less than $1000. Now many are offered at
less than $600. Ships hold many more passengers and service is less
personalized.

Lots of other small changes that make for a different kind of cruise
than we once knew. The old adage is still true..."you get what you pay
for".
