As someone who has done both routes, albeit on significantly smaller
"ships" (they're called boats), the NY to Bermuda route is also
somewhat softer. You corss the Gulf Stream. With a Florida to
Bermuda route, you sail north with the stream (which can be very nice
if you have a trailing beam wind or hell if you are dead on) and
against it going south. And that can make for some painful chop.
At 22 kts, Bermuda is about 35 hours from NY and 48 from Florida. |
