If you just want a great beach, you could stay at one of the resorts
on Key Biscayne, but you'll find more action on Miami Beach, at
at a "South Beach" hotel. I like the Hilton Bentley. Their quote:
"... an oasis of serenity and elegance in South Beach, Florida's
exclusive enclave - "SoFi" or "South of Fifth", situated at the
southern tip of Ocean Drive. Inhabiting a prime beachfront
location with dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Art Deco
District and cruise ships entering and departing the Port of Miami,
the hotel is located within walking distance of top eateries...
shopping and the area's renowned nightlife scene..."
However, if you do like a more laid-back area, yet with fine dining
and shopping, you could stay in the Coconut Grove area, South of
downtown Miami. Here, I like the Sonesta Bayfront. Their blurb:
"Tucked away in the verdant enclave of Coconut Grove... all the
originality and spice of this trendy, artistic neighborhood on the
coast of Biscayne and adjacent to Coral Gables. From our
luxurious bayfront retreat, you’re in the center of it all – just across
the street from CocoWalk and steps from lively sidewalk cafes,
stylish boutiques, modern art galleries, and sizzling nightlife."
