Subject: Re: Travelling with an electric scooter Posted on: Fri, 20 Mar 2009 08:28:41 -0700

Hi

My wife, Barb, travels with an electric scooter several times a year to
cruises.

Sorry I can't help you with the ports you mentioned, but we have taken
several Trans-Atlantic trips by air as well as by ship and we have only
encountered minor problems with the scooter.

Traveling in North America is generally fairly easy and the Airlines here
usually will bring the scooter to the jetway if you ask them to. We usually
check it through to final destination if a layover is less than 1 1/2 hours
between flights but if it is longer, she likes to have her own wheels.
Service in Europe (Frankfurt, Barcelona, Marseilles) has been OK so far, but
getting them to understand what we want is sometimes difficult.

We have never carried extra batteries and have sometimes, when the batteries
get over a year old, had to plug in at airports, etc. Just make sure you
carry the necessary converters for the places you plan to travel.

I hope this helps some,
