I did get carsick once as a child when I had an earache and I was
reading in the back seat, but that was the only time I've ever gotten
motion sick and been actually sick. My dad had a problem, but my mom
and I didn't.

One of the first times we took our boat out we wanted to sail around
from the Patuxent River to the Potomac in April. It was very rough
(south wind which we were heading right into and those lovely square
waves that you get in the Chesapeake) and we had green water over the
bow. I wasn't a very happy camper but Bob insisted that I would feel
better if I was at the helm and watching the horizon. Finally after 4
or 5 hours, I said to him, "I can't do this any more. Here - you take
it."

I dropped a pencil and when I leaned over to pick it up, I got dizzy.
But when I sat up it went away, and all the nausea went away. The
seas were the same, but once Bob took the wheel, I didn't have to
worry anymore, and so I wasn't queasy.

The first time we went down the ICW, I was nauseated every morning. It
was like morning sickness. I was never actually sick, but I didn't
feel good. The second time, I didn't have that problem and I have
concluded that if I am worried, it goes to my stomach.
