While ours isn't a charter cruise we learned early on from RSSC and our
TA that our two weeks on the Mariner is a jazz themed cruise. Even
though we're mid to late 70's in age we love most types of jazz.
Our son started on clarinet when he was in the 3rd grade and has stuck
with it, and several other reed instruments, throughout the years and
he's 51 now. He played with Kenny G for three years in the University
of Washington stage band and through his experiences has introduced us
to a lot of interesting music, contemporary jazz being one of them.
When he was in UofW I accused him of being a music major disguised as a
geology major. Also, I grew up loving Dixieland. When we lived in
Pensacola there was a great Dixieland place downtown where we spent many
a happy evening drinking beer, eating peanuts and wallowing in
Dixieland.
