I really only check in about once a week now. It's a shame, because I
can't find any other place that has ongoing intelligent discussion of
European travel (or any travel for that matter.) It was a great site
in its time, but it's been ruined, and those people who have on the
one hand denied that it was so, and on the other hand used it
constantly as a public substitute for chat software are a good deal of
the reason.
I've checked out the tripadvisor site, and would probably use it for
practical advice about an upcoming trip. I've been participating in
their Italy forums, but it's a very different kind of group, mainly
frequented by people who are afraid to take a train. And the site
itself is constantly shoving popups in my face.
Well, Paidraig, if we don't encounter each other any more on this
newsgroup, I will always consider you as one of the bright lights of
the years I participated here. Thanks for all of your help to me and
others who were planning visits to Ireland, and if you want to plan a
trip to Le Marche any time soon, please let me know. As a matter of
fact, come stay in my town and Marcello and I will drive you and
"herself" around.
