Funny, the Poles and Lithuanians and Latvians I meet here in Ireland
all speak some English, and most of them speak it very well. Their
children go to school and learn Gaelic better than many children of
Irish parentage.

How come they perform so poorly in the UK? Is British English a
greater barrier than Hiberno-English, or is it that we attract a
better quality of immigrant?
