The pressure on housing is as a result of the hugely inflated property
market, which again, is not due to immigrants. It isn't even due to
increased demand. As I pointed out in another post, a lot of the new
accession immigrants are often living in quite cramped conditions.
That's not ideal, but they're doing so more to keep costs down than
because of lack of space or housing. In fact, for most of the country,
the rental market has been relatively stable, and in some cases has
deflated, which is happening in the housing market as well of course.
The housing problems in the UK seriously predate the recent influx of
immigrants from new EU countries.
