perhaps it was, youre the first person who has said theres plenty of
spare cheap housing about. What are these flats, public or private?
They are in London? A neighbours son is a fireman and getting married
but cant afford anything.
Are the waiting list for public housing now empty where you are or can
you still only have the faintest chance with some kids?

theres cetrainly a lot of pressure on houses to buy, thats why they
cost millions for the bigger ones and many struggle to get a big
enough mortgage to buy something, i think they lend 4 and 5 times
salary nowadays. Its also why they are going to concrete over some of
the Thames estuary area between London and the Medway towns, perhaps
you should tell them quick before they start!
