Hi, I am arriving in Livorno on April 25 via cruise ship for a 1 day stop so
that those passengers who have not done so can visit Florence and Sienna and
all the other Tuscan biggies via the super expensive cruise ship shore
excursions. Since I have visited those places several times myself, I'd
like to do something different and explore Livorno and points south.
But...
I have heard that April 25 is a major Italian holiday and everything is
closed. Including some car rental places and perhaps many museums and or
other interesting places to see. Can any one tell me if this is true and
what we can expect to find open on this holiday?
Our plan is (was) to rent a car and drive south along the coast to see the
various villages and Etruscan sites. Has anyone experienced this holiday in
Italy before?
I have also emailed the Livorno tourist agency to get their input.
Thanks for any info.
